wow... it's been some time since i have updated this. every time i think about it, it seems so overwhelming because so much has happened, i hesitate to start. but, pretty soon there will be school news, marching band, etc and life won't slow down for me to catch up then either. best to do what i can - with what i have - where i am - so here i go!
i think it was shortly after mother's day that i realized i only had about 1 month before i departed for the mission trip to Guatemala. the posts stopped as i tried to juggle the end of school and getting things in order at home to be gone again and getting things in order in the suitcase to travel again. while i was in bolivia mom decided to try again with the auction sale for the things in the house in TL this summer. she set the date for 6/28 so Jeff and i went up to help her pack a few boxes over memorial day weekend as june was already booked for us except for the weekend of the sale. we enjoyed our time with her and shared some smiles and tears and lots of memories while packing boxes for the sale.
i left for Fargo to meet up with the group from St Joe's on 6/14. (we celebrated Father's Day earlier in the week.) the mission trip was super! more on that later... pictures included. i got back to SF at about noon on 6/25... jumped right into mom mode with orthodontist appointments and such ... 48 hours later i was on my way to TL for mom's sale. the sale went really well. Mom handled it with class and my siblings did also. did i mention that i have a really great family! someone asked me if it was hard to see all the things being sold.... kind of, but not really....all the things that really mattered were all still there... mom... my siblings... our love and respect for each other... the rest were just things...granted there were some things with lots of memories attached, but they are still things... the memories can't be bought or sold.
Jeff and Marilyn & Braden arrived on Saturday in time for the sale. we left TL on sunday to travel to Lee and Larry's for the official first night of our family vacation. Lexi and Trever introduced us to their bunny and Lee and Larry spoiled us. We headed out to the Rockies to hike and explore alittle before picking Sam up at the Denver airport on 7/2. Todd was a great host and guide getting us in and out of Denver in short order. from there we traveled to Montana to the (2 year in the planning) Steinberger Family Reunion for the 4th of July. Phil and Renee spoiled us rotten and we loved every minute of it! (more on that later with photos)
so i finally landed at home on 7/7 and after writing/reading this i think i know why i'm so behind in posting anything! :) it's been good having all three kids home and getting my hands dirty pulling weeds and making supper and hanging clothes on the line. spat camp (marching band camp) starts on friday of this week, so summer will be officially over at the Steinberger home once that happens and the flurry of high school and college starts again.... Ahhh the circle of life!
thanks for stopping by and being patient with my sporadic posting. i'd say i'll try to be better and i will try to be better, but no promises. i'd rather live life than write about it, but a life lived and never shared is missing something also. who knew balance would be so elusive!?!?
